From Autumn to Ashes: Fran
by Renee Clark
What made you want to become a musician? Was there any real defining moment?
my
uncle was a drummer, and when I was 5 he put me up on his drum set and let me
bang away.
What do you think you would be doing right now if your music career didn't
take off?
attending
medical school
How did you decide on From Autumn to Ashes being the name of the band?
we
were foolish. I wish we would have chosen something much shorter.
What was the hardest track to lay down on Too Bad You're Beautiful?
short
stories, because of the length and all the different instruments on it.
Do you have any plans for a new album? If so have you been working
on any new songs?
yeah,
we have the whole thing written, its good, you should all buy it I think. its
going to be dangerous.
Where do you get the inspiration from when you are writing new songs?
that's kind of like a magician not revealing his secrets, or a chef not sharing
recipes
Is it true that you are going to be releasing a video on Much Music and MTV2
this month?
yes,
whether or not they play it is still up in the air.
Are their any bands you would like to tour with if you had any choice?
AFI, bright eyes, MR. LIF
What has been the best tour in the past that you have been on so far?
our
first tour with taking back Sunday, last year. we also had a lot of
fun with the suicide machines, they are great guys and they taught us a bit
about gambling.
What are you listening to right now? What is in your CD player or MP3
players right now?
Denali,
steel train, MR. LIF
Are there any bands out there right now that you think people should know
about and give a listen to?
steel
train
Do you have any advice for other bands trying to make a living out of being a
musician?
yeah,
with all the file sharing and cd burning you wont make a dime off of record
sales, so tour constantly and sell a lot of merch. otherwise you're better
off working in fast-food.
