“Rock n roll music, man is what it is,” says lead vocalist Matt Caughthran about the Bronx, an L.A. rock band signed to Island/Def Jam records after a mere twelve live shows. That should tell you that this rock band is heading in the right direction. “We just want to push ourselves musically.”

The Bronx are touring the states in support of their debut self titled release, which is due out July 18th. The new album, which was produced by Michael Beinhorn(Marilyn Manson, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Soungarden, and others) was intimidating at first, but the band members got over that fear real quick. Lead singer Matt Caughthran said, “He is a wonderful guy. We wanted to do something different and he was the perfect guy to do that. There was a little bit of intimidation at first, but he was perfect for us. I couldn’t ask for a better experience.”

Their first single, “White Guilt” is homage to the opposite sex. “’White Guilt’ is about women who are attached money and imagery,” says Caughthran. Women can be downright trashy and dirty, especially when you are in an all male rock band.

Other than catching the ladies attention, the band caught the attention of the one and only Gilby Clarke(Guns N Roses) as they played around the Los Angeles circuit. He not only produced the band’s demo, but is featured on their debut album as well. “Yeah, we met Gilby through a friend of a friend. I really wanted to do a song with him and we called him in.”

Stay tuned for a movie entitled What We Do Is A Secret, which is based on the rock band, the Germs. In the movie, the Bronx reprise Black Flag and love doing so too. “Being Black Flag and putting a song on the soundtrack was pretty awesome.”
