Whenever
I get bored with my music that I have in my collection, which happens quite
frequently. I head online to search
for new bands to listen to. After
hearing about Dropbox from one of my friends I decided to check them out.
When I heard a few of their songs I was amazed.
They have a vintage but yet fresh gritty sound. They are just a prime
example of what real rock music should sound like.
I also like the rawness and the fact that vocalist John Kosco actually
sings throughout the whole album.
For
those of you who do not know, Dropbox is the first band to be signed on Sully
Erna’s (yes the frontman of Godsmack) imprint label from Universal called
Realign. The band is made up of
drummer Bob Jenkins, vocalist John Kosco, bassist James Preziosa, guitarist Lee
Richards and guitarist Joe Wilkinson. The band came together back in 2002. Kosco met Erna at a Godsmack show and gave him his demo.
Erna listened to it and was so impressed by his voice he introduced Kosco
to his longtime friend Richards who was at that time looking for a vocalist.
Everything from there seemed to fall into place for Dropbox. Lee and Kosco collaborated and wrote songs that overwhelmed
Erna and even inspired him to join the band during the recording process to sit
in on the drums while they were in between drummers.
Their
self-titled debut hit stores on April 13th.
They just finished up one leg of the Godsmack tour and are going to join
them once again next week after Godsmack’s stint with Metallica.
Check
back to Static Noise in a few days for the awesome interview I recently did with
vocalist John Kosco!!
This
is a great band that I recommend checking out but don’t take it from me
because their music speaks for itself.
