Crossfade rocks
the radio with heart

Bands like Crossfade are a rare gem
in the music industry today. Crossfade possess an incredible live/stage presence
and studio sound that is found on their intense in your face pure rock
self-titled debut Crossfade. I first saw the band when they performed
with the likes of Puddle of Mudd, Tantric and Josh Todd at the 95X Fest back in
May. It was raining so I didn't want to get my camera wet photographing a band I
didn't know, but after Crossfade began to perform, they immediately caught my
attention and I was drawn to them. And I just had to go photograph them for
Static Noise. After watching their set I knew that this band was going places.
Crossfade only includes merely 10
tracks on their album but they leave listeners satisfied.
Catchy melodic riffs and lyrics from songs such as "Cold" and
"The Deep End" linger in your mind and leave you humming the tunes
long after the album is over.
The opening track
"Starless" has great dynamic guitars that set the theme to the album.
Mellower Songs like "So Far Away" and "The Unknown"
break up the record and show a softer side to the quartets music.
Many compare Crossfade to other bands
such as Nickelback and Linkin Park, but Crossfade's lyrics are more versatile
and positive. Each song has a subject that any listener can personally relate
to. In "No Giving Up" the theme of being faced with a new trial in
your life tells you that "you can overcome anything that gets to you"
and reminds you that "you should think things through/before you give it up
now."
This
album is one that you can listen to from beginning to end without having the
desire to skip to any certain track. Their influences on the style of their
music may shine through on this album and doesn’t harm their sound at all.
With Crossfade’s charismatic live performance and honesty in their lyrics, I
beg to differ with anyone's opinion that this band lacks originality.
