Over the past decade rock music has changed and lately I have been really nostalgic for all of the great grunge bands I loved from the 90's. It was an era when rock music was at it's best and most rockin' (well for my peers that are in their late 20's-early 30's)
The moment I heard Kopek, I was immediately in love with their music and sound. I felt like I was in a time warp back to the 90's because they are the first NEW band I have heard in such a long time that sounded grungy and it was quite refreshing! They have unique guitar riffs and Daniel's voice is as equally unique/raw. The sounds blend together so well that their album gave me the same chills Nirvana's "Nevermind" gave me when I first heard it as a teenager. And I mean that all in a good way!
Don't miss Kopek on their tour with Hinder. Get your bums there early and catch this amazing band live! Static Noise will be at their show on February 10th at the Sherman Theater in Stroudsburgh, PA and we couldn't be MORE EXCITED!!!!!!!!!
Until you get to see them live, be sure and check out their new video for "Cocaine Chestpains"
Static Noise: How was N.Y.C. and the video shoot? Daniel: It was great, we were worked to the bone, but had a great time, and were all really happy with video.
SN: Give details of your tour and record release?
Daniel: Yes, The album has been put back till March, and our tour started at the end of January and goes nation wide.
SN: Will you be headlining any shows? Or just supporting? Daniel: Both, We go out on tour as support to HINDER,while headlining clubs etc. along the way.
SN: What preparation for the states did you do before moving??
Daniel: Alot of fast food and staying up late, its always good to acclimatize to the time zone and food diet of any given territory before actually being there..............................................ha,ha.................any excuse for a big mac...................and after midnight too.......................................were like the "Gremlins".
SN: What did you all do over Christmas? What did you want Santa to bring you?
Daniel: We Spent time with family and friends as it will be tough while we are away, and I asked Santa to bring me a "HIT" record.
SN: What was the hardest track on album to record on "White Collar Lies?" Daniel: The hardest song to record was a song that was so tough to get.....we gave up half way through and didn't actually put on album......................were gonna take alook at it for 2nd album.
SN: What is your favorite song to play live and why?
Daniel: This changes from time to time, its down to where your playing and what the crowd is like. My favorite song would be the song on any given night that gets the crowd off there feet and roaring the lyrics. Each town or club type seems to have its own favourite song.
SN: Who is you Hero?
Daniel: We have too many to mention.
There is of course the usual.......Rockstars,Sports stars,Actors etc. but we prefer everyday hero's. Every small/big town has local hero's , without these, civilization would destroy itself and worst of all............kopek would have no inspiration for their songs.
SN: What has been your biggest achievement so far?
Daniel: It has to be this American tour and release of the album.
As a rock'nroll band going back to where rock'nroll was created , and being excepted(so far) is the biggest honour to KOPEK. We LOVE music and kind of look at the U.S. as one big "Graceland", everywhere we'll go in the states will have its own music style/story,and to be able to experience these styles at first hand and in the flesh is overwhelming for the band. So its our Biggest achievement and Biggest honour.
SN: Us American ladies just adore Irish accents, What's your fav accent?
Daniel: We actually have a lot of accents we like................we prefer the strange ones....ie. FARGO ..........and there's one in the south.......i think .....Louisiana. Being Irish alot of American accents seem really strange. We also like New York/New Jersey and Boston Accents as they remind us of home ........A LOT.
SN: What was your first instrument and how did you get it?
Daniel: I got a guitar when I was 12.......................i think it was actually ...................SANTA...............how fitting!
SN: Who is the jokester of the band?
Daniel: Our Lawyer...............................his prices sends me into fits every time.
SN: What can fans do to spread word of kopek?
Daniel: Take off ALL your clothes and run down your main street shouting " THEIR COMING "................"THEIR COMING"...................................and if someone stops you and ONLY if someone stops you and says " WHO"................you reply with a whisper in their ear..........................."KOPEK"........................if everyone actually did this we would All make the evening news........COME ON!
SN: How excited about saw 3d. Was it a surprise?
Daniel: We Are ecstatic our song was used for SAW 3d...................we were told it was happening but only hit home once we seen it on the album..............really happy.
SN: Do you have any tattoo's?
Daniel: No , None of us have tatto's............................we couldn't afford them.
Being Irish forces us to spend nearly All our cash on DRINK.
SN: What is the craziest thing a Kopek fan has done?
Daniel: It was actually in America, in Nashville I think.............We played a club and after we played...........on the way home we noticed cars/vans following us home........Basically Half of the Club followed us home with KEGS / CANS etc.
American crowd were really into it , we ended up having a great night....................I never knew 39 people could fit in 1 motel room.................
SN: Are any of you animal lovers?
Daniel: Yes we love animals..........................................I have a dog................He likes Bob Marley and THE ROLLING STONES!
SN: Any last comments?
Daniel: Kopek's tour started the last week in January and our Album "White Collar Lies " is out first week in MARCH 2011,
